Hi Paul
Great spotting. The are very rare at CTBAR. I just saw a keyhole angelfish. What depth did you see it and whereabouts along the breakwater?

Thanks very much for the kind comments. I’m going to try and improve the site soon, just need time. It’s great to see people use it and hopefully educates folk about the value of aquatic reserves.

Hi – I think I spotted a lillte coastal mata ray in this reserve – would that be possible? Im sure it had little spots on it too.

Hi Emily, it would be very rare, but not impossible. The Eagle ray is sometime mistaken for a Manta, and looks similar. If the spots were white, and many of them you may have seen a rare Spotted Eagle ray. I have seen photos of them in the bay but they are tropical and rarely seen. Did you take a photo?
